Writing thank you notes shows that you have taken the time to genuinely express your gratitude. A well written note can become the most treasured token of the receiver. It also increases your value in the eyes of the receiver. You can be writing a note for a gift received, attending a celebration, for your teacher, your parents, for a donation, or just as a business note. A hand written thank you note looks personal and makes the receiver feel special.

Instructions on Writing Thank You Notes

Certain etiquettes should be kept in mind while writing the note. You can use informal stationery to write it. It is better if you use a card with an elegant and appropriate image, with a blank page inside. Write these notes in your own handwriting to give a personal touch.

When writing, begin the note with dear and address it using the first name of the receiver if you know the person very well. If the receiver is not particularly well-known to you, begin with, for example, Dear Mr. Ross. The salutation should follow a comma. Then mention the gift or favor in the next line. For example, You have always been there to support anyone in need, or You've always understood my choice of furnishings.

You can write about how the gift or favor has been useful to you and how it will be used by you (in case of a gift). You can add a short and simple update on your life. Sign off your note with the following line. With thanks, Jim or With heartfelt gratitude or a simple Thank you. You can send over the note along with a bouquet of flowers, chocolates, or an invitation for lunch. It is a good idea to write a personal note to guests who attended your wedding reception and thank them for their gifts. You can even write a note to the people who were present at the memorial service of a loved one.

These writing tips will surely prove useful in writing thank you notes. Just think of what you would want a thank you note to contain and get started with writing it for someone who has made a difference in your life.
