Very often we put off writing a condolence note or paying a visit to the bereaved person, because we feel awkward and uncomfortable. But by putting off this task, you will only end up feeling burdened with guilt. You will find it difficult to face the bereaved person and he/she might feel that you were not there to support and comfort them in their times of distress. However much you might find it disturbing to go and see that person, you should at least send a heartfelt condolence message or sympathy card. Condolences for death and sympathy card messages might be difficult for you to write and you might be confused as to what to write in such circumstances. So here we will provide you with some condolence message samples to make this task a little easier.

How to Write a Condolence Message?

Writing a condolence message is difficult and you need to maintain social etiquette while writing them. You also need to refrain from using some common remarks that only serves as platitudes and are of no comfort to the bereaved person. Condolence messages on death should always be handwritten in somber stationery and never typed. Keep the message short and simple and avoid comparing the person’s pain with your own. Send out sympathy cards as soon as possible and do not delay the writing. The more you put off writing a condolence message, the more difficult the task becomes. You can also send flowers along with the condolence note. If you knew the deceased intimately, you can also mention some special qualities of that person in the condolence message. This would provide a great deal of solace to the bereaved. Condolence message for coworkers should be worded in a sincere way. Avoid using flowery language and keep it short and simple. Also avoid writing anything too long as people in mourning do not have the courage or inclination to read long condolence messages.

Your dad was such an amazing person who touched the lives of many. I remember the many times I had been over for dinner at your place and how he would regale us with his war stories.

I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you. We hope that you find courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss.

I cannot comprehend just how sad you must be feeling, for the loss of your wife. My heart goes out to you, in this difficult time.
